This year’s ceremony saw the destruction of over 10 million items of goods seized through the collective efforts of the Royal Thai Police (251,019 items), the Customs Department (9,818,358 items) and the Department of Special Investigations (551,448 items). Items covered the full range of consumer goods from luxury fashion to auto parts and everything in-between.
The huge volume of seized goods destroyed underscores the government’s continued commitment to cleaning up IPR infringement in Thailand and promoting Thailand as a safe haven for genuine rights holders in the region.
The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit himself, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, which again highlights just how important the current government takes the issue of IPR infringement in the Kingdom.
